Overview

This full-day adventure takes you to Arusha National Park, a scenic and diverse park located just a short drive from Arusha town. Despite being one of Tanzania’s smaller national parks, Arusha offers an incredible variety of landscapes—from lush montane forests and open savannah to the beautiful Momella Lakes and the dramatic backdrop of Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest peak.
Wildlife in the park includes giraffes, zebras, buffalos, warthogs, colobus monkeys, and a wide range of bird species. While the park is not known for big cats or elephants in large numbers, its peaceful atmosphere, scenic beauty, and opportunities for walking safaris and canoeing make it a unique and memorable experience—especially for those with limited time.

Itinerary: Arusha National Park Day Safari

• Morning: Depart early from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. Drive to the park entrance (approx. 1–1.5 hours from Arusha, or 2.5 hours from Moshi). After park entry formalities, begin your exploration.
• Safari Game Drive: Start your game drive through forested hills and open glades. You may see giraffes grazing, colobus monkeys swinging through the trees, and a variety of antelope and birdlife near the lakes.
• Walking Safari (Optional): With a park ranger, take a guided walking safari along the lower slopes of Mount Meru. This unique opportunity allows you to get close to wildlife on foot and learn about local plants and tracks.
• Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the scenic spots in the park, possibly overlooking the Momella Lakes or with a view of Mount Meru.
• Afternoon: Continue game viewing or choose a canoeing experience on the lakes (optional, with additional cost) before returning to Arusha or Moshi in the late afternoon.
